Vibe Trader Web App
Improved the onboarding experience and overall usability of a trading platform by conducting UX research, usability testing, user interviews, A/B testing, and data analysis. Redesigned key user flows to reduce onboarding drop-offs, improve navigation, and increase user engagement.

Problem :
The trading platform already had a website and web application, but users were abandoning the onboarding process before completing registration. Microsoft Clarity analytics showed a high drop-off rate during onboarding, resulting in fewer activated users.
The platform was also difficult for new users to understand. Navigation was inconsistent, important actions were not clearly visible, and users struggled to learn how the product worked before creating an account.
Solution :
I started by analysing Microsoft Clarity recordings, heatmaps, and user behaviour to identify where users were leaving the onboarding flow.
To validate these findings, I conducted usability testing with real users. The research revealed several issues:
The onboarding process was too long.
Users were asked unnecessary questions.
Users did not understand the product before signing up.
There was no clear indication of their progress.
Based on these findings, I redesigned the onboarding experience by reducing unnecessary steps, simplifying questions, adding product previews with screenshots, and introducing a progress indicator.
The progress bar followed Goal Gradient Effect, encouraging users to complete the remaining steps by making their progress visible.
After implementation, onboarding completion improved and user drop-off reduced significantly.
Challenge :
The trading dashboard contained a large amount of financial information, making it difficult for new users to navigate.
I conducted one-to-one user interviews to understand how traders used the platform, where they became confused, and which tasks required the most effort.
The research showed several usability problems:
Similar cards and components were not visually aligned.
Navigation patterns were inconsistent.
The company logo was being used as a Back button, which confused users.
Trial users could not easily see how many free trial days remained.
Upgrade opportunities were not visible enough.
My Role:
Analysed Microsoft Clarity heatmaps and session recordings
Identified onboarding drop-off points
Conducted usability testing
Interviewed real users
Created research documentation and UX recommendations
Redesigned the onboarding experience
Simplified user flows
Improved dashboard usability
Conducted A/B testing
Designed email templates and onboarding emails
Collaborated closely with developers and product managers
Supported implementation and design improvements
Goal Gradient Effect
Added a progress bar during onboarding so users could clearly see how much of the process remained, increasing motivation to complete registration.
Progressive Disclosure
Removed unnecessary questions and presented information only when needed, reducing cognitive load.
Jakob's Law
Replaced the logo-based Back action with a standard navigation button, matching users' existing mental models and improving usability.
Recognition Rather Than Recall
Added product screenshots and feature previews before sign-up so users could understand the platform without needing to imagine the experience.
Visual Hierarchy
Reorganised dashboard layouts to highlight the most important actions and information first.
Hick's Law
Reduced unnecessary choices during onboarding, helping users make faster decisions.
To improve subscription conversions, I created two different versions of the Upgrade Now experience.
Using Microsoft Clarity heatmaps, click maps, and session recordings, I analysed where users naturally focused their attention.
The upgrade button was placed in the area with the highest visual attention, improving its visibility without interrupting the user experience.
The winning design was selected based on user behaviour and engagement data.
Additional Improvements
Added remaining free trial days indicator
Redesigned onboarding emails
Created responsive email templates
Improved email content and UX writing
Standardised UI components
Improved navigation consistency
Refined button hierarchy
Updated component alignment
Improved design documentation
